Anshan has a very long history though the city's formation is short. Anshan is the cradle of the mankind' remote antiquity. It has been proved by the archaeological studies of Xiaogushan Paleoanthropelogical Relics in Haicheng that mankind had propagated and multiplied in this area about 20 thousand years ago. In addition, there has found some stony sheds and stone wares of the New Stone Age in Haicheng's Shimu, Pailou, Datun, Chagou and Tengao, etc. In Jiubu of Anshan City, it has been further proved that Anshan had entered the rank of the Human Civilization, long ago, just as the Central Plains of China, and became a composite unit of the Chinese nation.
